Arbitration Attorney - Mediation Lawyer

Serving Detroit, Ann Arbor and all of Michigan

A divorce settlement is any agreement about an issue in question surrounding a divorce. This would include agreements regarding child custody and visitation, property division, relocation, or any other issues that arise during the dissolution of a marriage.

Mediation is a process in which the involved parties meet with a neutral third party who helps them identify and resolve these issues, in hopes of reaching a settlement without court intervention. The mediator has no authority to issue orders, and the discussions and negotiations that take place during mediation are not a matter of public record.

Some benefits of the mediation process over court proceedings include:

  • Money Savings — Mediation incurs no court fees (although you will have to pay for the mediator's time), and generally requires less billable time for your attorney.
  • Time Savings — The mediation process can be significantly shorter than a full court trial.
  • Privacy — Unlike a court proceeding, your mediation process will remain private.

At Robert G. Morrison & Associates, P.L.L.C., our mediation lawyers believe strongly in helping our clients through their divorce as best we can, and we encourage our clients to at least attempt to resolve their issues through mediation before submitting to a court trial.
